What do you mean by healthy diet?
Most people think that healthy diet may just mean eating more fruit, vegetables,, potatoes, and pasta.Some fats and oils, for example, are important in the diet for various reasons, including absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. But you only need a small amount compared with foods such as vegetables

It also does not mean that having roughlyequal measures of every thing There should be a lot of some foods and just a little of others.

Our body get nutrients like vitamins proteins carbohydrates etc from five major different food groups

These five different food groups are

  1. bread, other cereals and potatoes
  2. fruit and vegetables
  3. milk and dairy foods
  4. meat, fish and alternatives
  5. foods containing fat and foods containing sugar

How much is a serving we need from each food group?!

How many servings we need of each food group every day depends on our age, gender and level of activity.

More specifically, the USDA Food Guide Pyramid outlines standard serving sizes for many foods, based on the American imperial system of cups


This means that having more vegetables, fruits potatoes, pasta breads etc doesn't constituate healthy diet

Good healthy diet means recommended number of daily servings from (depends on age gender level of activity) each of the five major food groups: grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, meat and beans.


Eat variety of foods

No single food can supply all nutrients in the amounts you need. For example, oranges provide vitamin C but no vitamin B12; cheese provides vitamin B12 but no vitamin C.
